Day 3 - Shibuya and Meiji Shrine

I started the day off with a 15km bike ride at the gym so that was a nice start to the day for me at least :)

Today's breakfast was an assortment of exciting bits and pieces from the supermarket including what I hoped would be peanut butter but really was peanut cream - difficult to describe but not unpleasant
Once we got going it was a walk back to the main Shinjuku Train Station (about 20 minutes) and then to Shibuya which is famous for its busy street crossing
Also at Sibuya is a Loft Store which is one of my favourite for stationary and cute Japanese things so we spent awhile wandering around there noting things for purchase prior to leaving Japan.

We then returned to the main crossing to attend Starbucks which has a good view of the crossing.....

and coffee....

From Shibuya we walked to Meiji Shrine which was a pleasant 15 minutes stroll on a slightly cooler day than the previous but still at times sunny.

Sake barrels
An amazing array of chrysanthemums was set up along the walk to the main temple.

Bonsai Chrysanthemums

Caity for scale
After leaving the shrine we headed off to a Bird Cafe that Caity was keen to visit only to arrive and find out it was not open on Mondays.  Missed that on the website We will try again before we leave Japan.

After this we headed home via the JR Station to book tickets on the Shinkansen (Bullet Train) to Kyoto for Wednesday morning, and return for Saturday. Tick.

Then we had a look around in the Takashimaya Department Store food hall for some late lunch- I had assorted vegetables, Caity a Katsu (probably best described as a schnitzel)  sandwich.
Then it was back to the hotel for some chillax time before heading off again for CoCo Curry House for dinner.  I had the pork with extra spice and Caity the chicken with regular spice. I was pleasantly surprised by the tastiness of it!

Tomorrow should be a lovely sunny and clear day, perfect for more sight seeing....
